Ciara And Missy Elliott Team Up For First Time In Nearly A Decade On “Level Up” Remix

The collaboration also features Fatman Scoop.

The connection between Ciara and Missy Elliott has yielded hits like “1, 2 Step” and “Lose Control,” but the two stars haven’t gotten in the studio since 2009’s “Work.” That changed this week though, when Missy appeared on the remix to Ciara’s “Level Up” alongside Fatman Scoop.

On the track’s bridge, Missy alludes to her history with Ciara and the surprising nature of this collaboration:

Me and Ciara, they ain’t seen this comin
In the streets, this song is buzzin'
Some of ya’ll is talking mumbling
But that shit don’t really mean nothing

Missy also tweeted that the track “Feels like a ‘Lose Control’ b-side.”

“Level Up” is the lead single from Ciara’s upcoming seventh album, which will be her first since 2015’s Jackie. Missy hasn’t released a full-length since 2005’s The Cookbook, but did recently collaborate with Busta Rhymes and Kelly Rowland on “Get It” and is slated for a feature on Ariana Grande’s new album Sweetener.
